Overall Satisfaction with Hootsuite

I used Hootsuite to schedule our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter posts. I also used it to view when our pages got direct messages from users. I used Hootsuite at multiple education companies over the span of five years and was the primary user of the program as well as the team member who urged management to adopt the platform. It is a very helpful way to see all of your social media in one place, as well as be able to easily duplicate posts that you can tweak for each platform.
  • Helpful scheduling/planning for multiple social media platforms.
  • Well laid-out post creation interface.
  • Convenient weekly statistics on each of your accounts.
  • Periodically social accounts will come un-linked and cause your posts to not publish.
  • Customer support is incredibly difficult to get in touch with if you have a need for an actual person and they aren't very fast to respond. You basically have to lie to their chatbot if your issue isn't listed in the drop-down menu or else you'll never be able to get into contact with a human, as they lack an "other" or "not listed" option in the issue selection interface.
  • It allowed for faster scheduling and creating of content.
  • It enabled me and my team to see at a glance what was happening on our platforms daily.
  • It allowed us to do the majority of our social media work all in one place.
Ultimately, we selected Hootsuite for the benefits-to-cost ratio it had. Sprout Social has an incredibly robust platform with great social listening, a nice scheduling calendar, and a lot of metrics you can view, plus team post creation and approval flows. It's an impressive platform but was far beyond our budget range. Later is a nice platform for Instagram, but ultimately the only truly outstanding features it had (when I evaluated it) were the ability to look at how your profile grid would lay out and the ability to have a uni-link that lets users click to destinations from images that are a duplicate of your feed. Great additional features, to be sure, but they were not important enough for my team to pay for a platform when we can use Meta Business for free since scheduling is currently our biggest concern. I used HubSpot Marketing Hub at a previous company. It was convenient for management to be able to see what was going out since they already did most of their work in Hubspot. It was a fairly basic platform that only allowed for scheduling normal feed posts.
If you have an issue that is covered by their vast catalog of blog tips and chatbot responses, their support is quick and easy to access. If you have a bigger issue that requires the attention of an actual human, their support can be quite lacking. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get in touch with a person and it was not obvious, even when I googled "How to talk to a real person at Hootsuite". Ultimately I had to jump through a bunch of hoops with their chatbot and then pick a random unrelated issue to claim as my problem so that I could get through to a human because the issue I was having was not listed in their presets and they lack an "other" option.

Would you buy Hootsuite again?

Yes

Hootsuite is great if you need to have all of your different social media profiles viewed in one place. It is especially necessary if you are managing a lot of social profiles and need to see and build their posts together on a day-to-day basis. My team ultimately made the choice to discontinue our Hootsuite account last month because we are shifting gears to place the majority of our focus on Instagram. Facebook and Instagram have recently released a very functional user interface for scheduling that is free to use, and since we aren't heavily monitoring or using our other platforms, we no longer needed to pay for the services of Hootsuite. If your primary social media accounts are Facebook and/or Instagram and you do not frequently post to others, the Meta Business platform is likely to suit all of your needs without needing to pay for a service such as Hootsuite.
