Overall Satisfaction with ISL Light

After an exhaustive search for TeamViewer replacements, I landed on ISL. Looks like they're still growing so some features are still in the works, but for the most part I've been able to manage and maintain all our computers for the past year better than I could on TeamViewer with it's constant problems and price increases. There's some differences and things to learn if you're coming from another platform, but overall I was able to migrate all my stations off of TeamViewer last year and get the Always on installed and running. Unlike TV the agent doesn't uninstall itself constantly which is a big win. Speed has been fine, can edit options to fine tune things if you need. I think we'll be sticking with ISL for a while. We're just now renewing our second year in. I did a deep breakdown on Reddit in the Sysadmin sub where I talked about all the products I tried and why I chose ISL. If you want to find it google "reddit TeamViewer alternative ISL" and it should be the first post. The journey to replace TV. Goes into a lot more detail if you want it.

Pros

  • Unattended remote agents
  • Good speed
  • Responsive support

Cons

  • Need a control toggle at least on AlwaysOn. User moves the mouse and you lose all control instantly.
  • Clipboard features are a bit wonky still, and your clipboard seems to get emptied a lot. So if you're trying to copy and paste you might lose something
  • Passwords for the systems are saved per machine, so if you work from multiple devices it can be tricky if you have complex passwords
  • Saved a little versus TeamViewer for similar feature set
  • Not as much paywalled behind add ons
  • Biggest positive is not having the agents uninstall themselves, I need the agent to be on and active at all times
Remote support works and you can get things done, but loses a few points for some features still being tweaked or developed. Hopefully it'll continue to improve over time
Price fit our needs, and it had all the functions we needed. The others all had issues that were preventing me from using it as we do on a day to day basis. TeamViewer especially has declined to a horrible state, and they trap you in with forced renewals which is seriously shady. Especially after killing purchased lifetime licenses.

Do you think ISL Light delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with ISL Light's feature set?

Yes

Did ISL Light live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of ISL Light go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ISL Light again?

Yes

I only use it for remote support of our users, pretty much as a 1 to 1 TeamViewer replacement.

Maybe not as well suited for a larger corporation as it's still relatively newer, but the higher tiers may provide more services for those situations
