Office 365 is used as a comprehensive suite for productivity enhancement and document sharing purposes. We use it across the organization. It solves document management and sharing-related complexities in an extremely easy and transparent way.
- With help of Office 365 cloud version, all the Microsoft Office Products become available on the cloud where one can easily edit/create/delete the documents. These documents can make available at any place and time without carrying them on a computer.
- Sharing documents becomes really easy and secure. Sharable links can be generated with different options like view only and editable. Also, you can opt to receive the email when the recipient opens the document.
- Data Migration from one account to another account is transparent. Just issue the command and it will do the rest. Extremely important when a team member leaves the organization and you want to take the entire data backup into your drive.
- Searching the document by name and even by content is possible. This makes it really cool when someone manages quite a number of documents.
- Easy integration with Microsoft AD makes sure single credentials work across all the accounts. No hassle to integrate other federated identity providers.
- The client version of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint tries to take a backup of each change on the cloud. This makes the performance a little sluggish specifically internet connectivity is intermittent.
- Consumes more memory on MAC OS and slower as compare to Windows version.
- One drive to share the document within and outside of the organization.
- MS Office programs for day-to-day activities like preparing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, diagrams, email, and much more.
- Active Directory with SAML for managing federated identity and SSO.
- It has helped us a lot to streamline Document Access Management.
- With help of Corporate policies, it has made us easy to keep the entire organization on the same version of Office 365 software. So no issue of version mismatch.
- Easy backup and huge storage on the cloud make the local computer free from cluttered files.
- We have not yet observe any negative impacts.
We have not evaluated any other products against Office 365. In my past organization, we were using Gsuites. However, I found Office 365 a better and comprehensive solution.
