Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Office 365
We use Office 365 across our entire company (200 staff in Australia & 30 in Manila). The collaboration tools are essential to our business. The suite has been around in some capacity for so many years that our new staff can just get up and running as soon as they sit down. It is ever-growing and we are still unveiling more and more uses for it all the time. As much as we use it for, we really haven't even scratched the surface of what can be done with it.
- Deployment & Updating - From an IT professional point of view, it is essential that this process is easy and reliable.
- Collaboration - OneDrive & Teams allows our users to seamlessly share and co-author files.
- Continual Development - Office is always coming out with new features - OneDrive has come along in leaps and bounds and is now a critical part of our environment.
- Do away with user-based installations of standalone apps such as Teams and instead go back to computer-based installations (OneDrive recently did this)
- Outlook is very heavy when multiple mailboxes are mapped
- MFA - We implemented this recently and it often doesn't prompt for the code and instead just causes problems with Outlook/OneDrive/Teams without notifying the user that it is waiting for the code
- It is a critical system that every single person in our company uses every day
- Allows us to collaborate between our teams seamlessly
- Has opened the ability to roam and work out of the office by using the cloud based tools such as OneDrive and the online versions of Outlook, Word, Excel etc
I have used G Suite in a previous role and spent 1 year using it. I didn't enjoy it very much. I don't know if that is just because I am used to Office or if it is just an inferior application suite. I didn't feel like it had as many features or the same ability as Office - although this was about 5 years ago and I am sure that it is much better than it was. From what I hear now it is reasonably competitive so I would really need to use it again to assess. Office is, however, the leader in its field and I think it always will be.
