Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI

We primarily use Microsoft Power BI to fulfil our reporting needs. Businesses need more deep reporting, and our owners, EU, and customers' reporting demand has been growing. New regulation rules significantly increase all the time. Microsoft Power BI responds well to our growing needs. Our business data has been moved to the cloud to get dashboard reporting working smoothly, and we don't need to make Excel-based reports anymore.

Pros

  • Good looking reports
  • Very flexible especially in centralised reporting
  • Easy to integrate Teams and web pages

Cons

  • Date modelling need deep understanding
  • Not very innovative to end user
  • Quite expensive to use
  • On premise version is outdated comparing to cloud version
  • Has been essential to our business development
  • Sharing of project benefits across the organisation substantially improved
  • Production of information for owners substantially facilitated
  • Made it easier for front-line staff to monitor the hours spent on projects
  • Substantially facilitated stakeholder reporting
When everything is up and running, Microsoft Power BI is very reliable, and you don't need much monitoring. Also, the need for support is relatively minimal. If you are using Microsoft platforms, the integration is easy, and you can get a lot of features, for example, real-time reporting. Very complex data is relatively easy to create report views.
We have used Microsoft Power BI for almost seven years. When looking for a reporting platform, remember that you are about to make a long-term choice. Moving reports to another system isn't easy. If you have, for example, more than 100 reports, the move to a different platform is a long-lasting project.

Centralised reporting is well-suited. A lot of different automated reports to be made Reports that collect data from different solutions. Can handle large amount of data. Private reporting might be pretty tricky. You have to have a deep understanding of data modelling. Not very flexible to make different report styles.
