Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI

We use Microsoft Power BI to visualize and create dashboards from sql databases.

Pros

  • Create dashboards
  • Easy connection to sql databases
  • Flexible way to present data

Cons

  • Dashboard building has a steep learning curve
  • Connecting sql tables and datafields could use a better wizard
  • It gives great insight on our customer contact information
  • It shows the management data and heatmap to plan out staff accordingly.
Microsoft Power BI is great with a finished dashboard. Either the share controls as the dashboard itself are easily managed. If you need to create the dashboards then you are in for a steep learning curve.
Qlik also builds dashboards upon your data. It's more expensive as Microsoft Power BI and needs as much training as Microsoft Power BI

Do you think Microsoft Power BI delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Microsoft Power BI's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Power BI live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Microsoft Power BI go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Power BI again?

Yes

Microsoft Power BI is best suited for a Microsoft scenario where your data comes from SQL and you want to present dashboards in tools like Microsoft Teams.

If your data comes from other sources and you don't have a need to present it in Microsoft tools there are tools that are easier to learn
