Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Teams

We recently started using Microsoft Teams division-wide for a large multi-year, enterprise-wide program/implementation. This tool is being implemented in our global organization to promote effective virtual team work. We are replacing Skype for Business with Microsoft Teams, at least during this internal pilot, to measure the effectiveness of the application within our organization.
  • Group chats with the ability to collaborate easily and effectively with customers and colleagues across the globe
  • Multiple people can share screens, or video chat at once
  • Files are easily shared in a chat to multiple users at once, saving time on redundant/unnecessary emails
  • Integration with Microsoft 365 and other applications like Power BI
  • Searchable text history is super useful
  • Ability to set up sub conversations is another feature that comes in handy for our scrum teams
  • The marketing needs to be improved so customers or potential users can easily differentiate the different capabilities offered to users of Skype for Business versus Microsoft Teams because there is a ton of overlap
  • The major current limitation is the ability of our organization to speak to our clients or colleagues from other consulting firms thru the app. We can do this easily through Skype already, but Teams does not currently allow other orgs into the collaboration
  • We will likely need to wait for other organizations (our client) to join Microsoft Teams as well before we will be able to have full adoption. Right now we are still dependent upon using Skype for Business in addition to teams and it can feel redundant and clunky at times to have to use 2 applications to perform what ultimately should and could be done they one or the other.
  • For companies who structure their development work in different scrum teams, this can be a super handy tool.
  • The ability to integrate with Microsoft 365 and collaborate in real-time with colleagues in any Microsoft application within the suite is really cool!
As I understand it, Skype for Business is being rolled into Teams, at least eventually, and this is the right approach. Right now it can seem clunky to go back and forth to accomplish all of the features you may need. But soon enough they will be combined, or at least that’s what I heard is the plan at Microsoft.
We are early adopters and are still learning an application that feels like it is still being fully baked. While it is definitely offering glimpses of the future virtual workspace offering limitless collaboration potential, some kinks exist and I’ve mentioned them in detail in earlier questions. I am confident that in a year from now all of the big ones will be ironed out and the masses will be using Microsoft Teams across the globe for communication and collaboration.

Do you think Microsoft Teams delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Microsoft Teams's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Teams live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Microsoft Teams go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Teams again?

Yes

We find it very useful for our agile development teams. The ability to roll up all of our scrums across all of our applications or modules and have each convo and meeting notes in one searchable place where anyone given permissions can access has become very useful to us.
