Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Cloud Archive
We needed to replace our previous on-prem e-mail archiving solution (Barracuda) with a could-based solution and do it in conjunction with our move to Exchange Online. After speaking and demoing all of the current best players in this space we decided to go with Mimecast as it just odes what is meant to do with no fuss and it works. The migration was seamless and the users took to it in no time. We use it across the whole Company and users rely on it as it allows them to keep records of all e-mails and also helps us when we need to retrieve messages from employees no longer at the company.
Pros
- Unlimited archive capability.
- Easy to search.
- Easy to manage and deploy/migrate to.
Cons
- The search interface (in the Admin panel) could be improved and made more intuitive.
- The search period in the Outlook Plugin can't be changed from the default of 1 year, this needs to be customizable.
- Add the ability to send messages from the web Interface.
- We needed a product that would allow us to keep at least 7 years worth of emails as required by the business and Mimecast, with its unlimited archiving, meets this requirement perfectly.
- Being a cloud-based solution allowed us to save on hardware, infrastructure, and maintenance costs when compared to our previous on-prem appliance.
- Barracuda Cloud Archive (formerly Sonian) and Proofpoint Archiving and Compliance
As opposed to its competitors, Mimecast Could Archive is a product designed IN the cloud. The other products were all basically traditional appliances hosted in the cloud and come with many limitations that Mimecast doesn't have. The ease of management and use of Mimecast is above that of its competitors as it's intuitive and efficient.

Yes - Barracuda Archiver, replaced due to the sysem being a legacy, on-prem appliance that was not meeting the requirements as we were migrating to the cloud.
- Cloud Solutions
- Integration with Other Systems
We needed a cloud-only ssystem that could be easily deployed and that integrated with the rest of the solutions we use.
Wouldn't change it
