Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Project management tool for various departments including PMO. It is being used with other software which makes it possible for them to properly visualize the presentations as well as the documentation in knowledge base. My department uses it to update articles and create video icons for newly implemented software. Other departments use it to manage full projects. I haven't seen it being used for large projects though. Process flows are perhaps the element I have seen done most in MindManager.

Information Visualization Benefits

We benefitted from this as a team, since it helped us in training new recruits. Our ticket numbers have been growing rapidly and without adequate knowledge base, we would not be as efficient or generate as good slas as we have been. I'd also say that the project management team have improved their processes. Some of them used to use Excel for all visualizations. MindManager is a significant upgrade.

Alternatives Considered

Lucidchart, Wrike and Microsoft Visio

We actually use all of them. We chose MindManager as we wanted to try out some new software in case it would be a better fit than the others. So far, while better, we haven't been using it extensively. We will most likely look to purchase some other software since MindManager hasn't really found full use.

Where Visio is not good enough or where simple charts are required. It can be really good in situations where super simple charts are to be made with little data. Purchasing the software was very easy and limited version can be used to check whether it is a good fit for the organization. It also depends on the departments, if the users are not very tech savvy MindManager can significantly increase productivity. It seems to be designed for the people with little experience in project management.
