Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro to help us facilitate workshops as part of a wide-reaching transdisciplinary research project. The software has comprised a central component of a series of community consultations that were held online due to COVID restrictions, as well as a number of professional and academic workshops.

Pros

  • Allows for conversation to flow.
  • Provides visual stimulation in otherwise boring online meetings.
  • Well designed HUD makes it easy to pick up and navigate on the go.

Cons

  • Limited colors and styles of sticky notes.
  • Frames for PDF export can be a bit fiddly and difficult to use.
  • App could do with a few QoL improvements, it's a bit clunky.
  • Made workshops possible (and engaging).
  • Made data analysis easy post-workshops.
  • High-resolution exports (i.e., vector) made printing striking charts in a large format possible.
I'm a digital native, so technology like this comes easy to me. I'd recommend giving colleagues some time to get to know the program, as it really is learning by doing.
It was easy for us, we're only a 5 person team and didn't use Miro as a central part of our workflow, just as a supplementary tool.
It made online community consultations not only possible but also far more engaging than they otherwise would've been.

I have only used Miro.
It's been great for facilitating collaborative workshops in an online environment. Of course, there's little point to using it in IRL situations.
