Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro to aid in a variety of tasks, from strategy formation through value stream analysis to SAFe Agile development planning and beyond. It allows us to capture contributions from colleagues from across the globe without having to physically bring them together and, using the structured templates that we have developed, allows our teams to target the desired outcomes quickly and efficiently.

Pros

  • Multi-user collaboration across multiple locations
  • Rich set of functional templates for most situations
  • Intuitive to use for beginners
  • Incorporate materials from other tools and present seamlessly

Cons

  • Sharing boards to non-team members is still a little clunky
  • The ability to natively export a presentation produced via Miro would be appreciated
  • Reduced time to delivery
  • Better quality outcomes
  • More inclusive outcomes
Needs some thought about users and licensing - having a small number of key power users with full licenses that set up the boards with the rest of the user base able to participate and contribute with restricted/free licenses helps keep costs down and ROI up.
There were some limitations when we started our journey with Miro, but as other integrations have been introduced, such as Teams, this has improved the use and benefit of the product in our organisation.
Miro use in our organisation really started to gain traction through the Covid pandemic and we haven't looked back since. Thanks to Miro we have been able to continue post-pandemic operating in a Hybrid manner, and have reorganised so that there is no distinction between our offshore and onshore workers.

We continue to use Gliffy for technical designs and in our technical documentation which it is better suited to than Miro.
We looked at using Microsoft Whiteboard within Microsoft Teams but functionally there was no contest.
Miro is great when you have a structured approach to tackling a specific activity - for example how you might conduct a SWOT analysis to help develop the key priorities for strategy development, although to get the best out of it you do need to spend some time planning how to lay out your boards or having individuals specifically dedicated to facilitate.
