Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro in research for several purposes: Designing user journeys, facilitating workshops with stakeholders, organizing information to centralize knowledge before a research initiative, and analyzing results (for instance, affinity diagramming). Miro is very practical and easy to use. I, for instance, am a big fan of spreadsheets to systematize findings. Still, I use Miro's “paste as sticky notes” functionality to make it accessible and easily consumed by other roles within the company (mostly Product Managers, Product Designers, and UX Researchers).

Pros

  • Convert content from spreadsheet cells into individual sticky notes.
  • Clustering based on tags or users.
  • Diagramming

Cons

  • A sort of "formatting pencil" for sticky notes where I select the look I want from one note and "paste" the formatting to another.
  • Bulk changes - E.g. change entire look of a complex diagram.
  • Embedded Miroverse, more easily accessible from a (+) sign.
  • Allows remote work.
  • Saves time (virtual workshops take less time in logistics like writing, moving sticky notes, etc.).
  • Democratised knowledge.
It's generally very easy to use, but for instance, the presentation mode is not that easy - having to create and order frames is cumbersome.
Recording videos explaining what I've designed. This has helped a lot ofpeople gain context whitout me having to repeat the explanation.
No, I still use the same tool set
It has allowed our group to work fully online. The fact that it has comments tools has allowed teams from different time zones to work async on the same board.
The availability of widgets and tools, the flow of movement, and the general user experience are much more delightful.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Great for facilitation workshops and work-in-progress deliverables. I don't use it as a final spot for final deliverables and outputs. I would if it had a sort of tagging system showing the progress or the quality of that data. I associate Miro with a hands-on working tool, not as a source of knowledge.

Using Miro

  • Collaboration
  • Planning
  • Documentation
  • Videos explaining journeys as they are
I have no choice, but also, I love the white canvas feel of it
