Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro for running design thinking workshops, service blueprinting, note-taking for customer interviews, and synthesizing either of those kinds of data collections. We use it for project management, team meetings, and individual to-do lists. My role is entirely remote, as is my whole team; basically, anytime someone would use a whiteboard, we use Miro.

Pros

  • Pasting excel cells into post its is hands down the best feature.
  • Navigation, the frames, being able to scale in and out.
  • Templates are great for ideas, it's def my first stop when I start a new board.

Cons

  • The groupings, I tried to draw on a shape yesterday and couldn't group the drawn lines with the shape (Crazy Eights template); I had to switch to post, which wasn't as engaging for my workshop.
  • I wish I could change the color of the Post-its the way I can change and choose the color of my shapes.
  • I often go out of scale, going too big, and using too big fonts. When I try to scale down the whole board, the line thickness doesn't scale down, and it's a mess.
  • There will be less travel for us and for customers because we can do workshops virtually, and we can include more people.
  • We have access to talent anywhere now b/c they don't have to be co-located.
  • Remote productivity.
We hire talent from anywhere we want, we can include more people, and async work is seamless b/c we can work in the same space anywhere, anytime.
I used Mural at my previous company. I liked it, and it took a while to get used to Miro when I started my current job, but now I prefer Miro. My use of the tools never overlapped, so I can't compare per se. It seems both tools really upped their game during the pandemic, so I imagine Mural has changed and improved since I last used it. So it's possible Mural is on par with Miro, but I'm just not in a company that uses it.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Workshops and customer interview note-taking... it's ideal b/cy you can quickly move right into synthesis. We use it for project planning, which is good in some ways b/c it visualizes the timeline, but it's very manual to update it and keep it current; it would be cool to integrate it with Office so we could set reminders or tie deadlines in the Miro plan to our own calendars without having to update the board and the calendar manually.
