Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro for school assignments and creating figures for my research publications. These include methodology figures, dataset images, and more. Miro allows me to create high-quality diagrams quickly and accurately. While the functionality of working with others is excellent, I have not used it yet since I primarily work alone on my projects.

Pros

  • Easy to upload and place images where you need them.
  • Integration with draw.io is excellent for better control over the diagrams I create.
  • I like how you can create multiple figures on one board and use the cropping figure to determine which one to download.
  • The ability to select the quality is good.

Cons

  • I wish you would more precisely place figures where you want them. Compared to other images, sometimes they snap to the grid lines in awkward places.
  • The way figure connections interact with certain shapes could be improved.
  • I would like more kinds of connections like different dotted lines.
  • It has made making figures for my publications faster.
  • I can create more figures at the same time than the previous platforms I used.
  • In the future, when I work with others on specific projects, they will be seamlessly integrated into my boards so we can work on the figures together.
Signing up and getting an academic license for Miro was straightforward —I think it took less than a day. It loads up quickly, and you can make any diagrams you want. I like how you can use your email verification to log in without a password.
I have not personally used the whiteboard or other collaboration tools since the projects I have been working on have had little collaboration with others. In the future, I am sure it will be helpful when paired up with others who do not have the figure-making tools I use.
Miro is superior to Lucid apps mainly due to its academic license. You are limited on LucidChart more so than on Miro in multiple ways. The templates and access to other apps also set it apart. GIMP is useful for different things but is not intuitive in figure-making compared to Miro. draw.io has integration with Miro, so Miro can use it to do more.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

I recommend Miro to anyone who asks me how to make figures and diagrams for school assignments or work on research papers. I used to work with LucidChart, but since some of my images are large and their disk usage does not update in real-time, you get locked up for a while after you add or remove an image.
