Overall Satisfaction with Miro
i use Miro as a collaborative tool both internally and with clients. We often facilitate workshops and meetings using Miro which are core deliverables/ activities for our client engagements. I also use Miro as a "classroom" for teaching workshops. I like that Miro offers, what I consider, a mid-level of fidelity...its not as detailed at Figma, and not as sketchy as something like Jamboard.
Pros
- Allowing people to see what you're doing in real time.
- Facilitation tools (timers & voting)
- visitor access is easy. I don't have to worry about new people not being able to access the board, delaying a meeting
Cons
- Board management. I have hundreds of boards and it's impossible to keep track of them.
- i miss the Noun Project integration that existed 4ish years ago.
- I want custom shape control with bezier controls.
- when we switched to remote work, Miro was vital to helping us maintain our collaborative working style.
- Allows for more efficient facilitation of workshops, drastically reducing the prep time needed.
It has been a huge part of our switch to remote work. we used OmniGraffle before, and while Miro isn't a 100% replacement, it has been good enough for allowing remote collaboration and creation of artifacts at the level of detail we need for our client work. I also appreciate the generous guest capabilities that allow us to give access to our clients without needing to pay for them, as often our clients request access, but never actually use it. This saves us a ton of money.
I appreciate how Miro strikes the balance between speed and detail. The level of detail Miro seems to "want" you to make can be made really quickly and efficiently, allowing you to focus on the outcomes/purpose of your models...not the look of the models. Miro helps designers and business people alike drive towards business outcomes and alignment over aesthetics, which i really appreciate. It's nice to have a tool that forces that focus.
