Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro as a design tool to brainstorm ideas first and then to organize them to show them to my team, instead of using something like Google Docs.

The product lets us communicate ideas faster, and collaborate instantly. Before Miro we used to do calls on Slack to draw ideas with their drawing tools, but those tools only lets you draw stuff for a couple of seconds, the ideas where lost easily. Now we use Miro for brainstorming, design, presentations, etc.

We have the design of the whole project in one board.

Pros

  • Adding sticky notes and connecting them with arrows. I have tried every single board app including the Google and Microsoft ones. Miro its in another galaxy compared to them. It's simple and fast. Speed is essential when you are building an idea live on a call.
  • The drawing tools are amazing. I love that you can select the lines and change their color.
  • Copy and pasting data from excel sheets to sticky notes it is so convenient and fast.
  • I love the images and icon finder tool, I don't even have to leave the board to do simple things like that.
  • The loading speed of the board and the performance in general. I have boards that I have been working on for years, one board has like 3 or 4 years of images, sticky notes, graphs, etc; and I still can't believe that loads and works so fast.

Cons

  • Post it notes has a very limited number of colors. Yes, I know the shapes tool has infinite colors, but the post it notes are prettier and easier to the eyes thanks to their shape and shadow.
  • Bold, italic, and underscore have keyboard shortcuts, but the strikethrough option doesn't.
  • I would like to have presentation tools.
  • Miro now has too many options to count, it could be cool to have an option to see recommended tutorials to know more about tools that maybe they exist but I don't know them.
  • I feel that in the past, a couple years ago, the drawing tools had better line assist, to draw better lines, more so with a mouse. I would like to have the option to increase the correction of my drawings so they don't look like they where done by a 4 year old.
  • Thanks to Miro we can work faster and more efficiently. The design team had 3 people working in one project, now we have ony one person dedicated to the design of one project, and the other 2 are free to work on other projects.
  • Meetings used to last at least 3 times longer before we transitioned to Miro.
  • We used to work with hundreds of google docs. Miro help use to merge all the info on the same board to decrease design and programming specification time to half.
The short answer, efficiency. The long answer, it makes us faster and better as a team. Now the meetings are shorter, the information is all in one place, the calls are clear because everyone can edit everything at the same time, following a user in the board make us all focused, etc.

Yes

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

For me, Miro is a great design tool because it lets you work fast and to throw ideas immediately. I use it for Game Design, and it works great to organize my ideas and to put them into words. Normally in Game Design, selling an ideas is difficult because they are hard to see in the air, having the ability to express them into a board makes my work much easier and my team understand my ideas faster and better.

The problem with the tool is that at some point the board gets too big, and people get lost into it. The bigger the board, the harder to use. So in long and bigger projects, it may overstay its welcome making the work harder than easier.
