Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro for a lot of different things. Mostly low-fidelity designs / brainstorming, but also for running workshops in a remote work environment. The main problem it addresses is a lack of shared space when working remotely. If we were all in person I don't know if it would be as useful, but it helps us collaborate and brainstorm together virtually in ways that we wouldn't otherwise be able to do.

Pros

  • Allows for multiple people to use the same board at the same time.
  • Low barrier to entry - very easy to understand how to add information to a sticky even for non-tech-savvy people.
  • Easy to create designs from a blank canvas.
  • Can add in other documents (images, pdfs) easily and include them in the brainstorm.

Cons

  • Would be great to more easily freehand draw or something. Sometimes it's limited with the shapes that are available.
  • If you forget to lock what you're working on, other people will mess it all up if they don't know what they're doing. This happens frequently.
  • The different team spaces is very confusing. If I search for a board but I'm not in the right team space, it won't show up in the results. There should be a single search across all spaces I have access to.
  • Improved productivity
  • Increased collaboration
  • More comfort in remote work with the ability to brainstorm together - still feels like we can collaborate
  • Allows us to be more agile - we can mock up a quick low-fi concept in Miro and get feedback before we spend too much time on prototypes
  • Easy user flows / business process models - allows us to easily document all of the steps in a process without learning some fancy system or platform
It's really helped us be able to collaborate virtually. It's actually changed the way we collaborate. People can get on a call and put all their ideas down on paper without anyone talking - we put the music and timer on. It gives people some time to formulate their thoughts and ideas on their own before they share with the group.
I think we all found Miro a lot easier to use than Mural. It's a different concept entirely than Figma and InVision but it acts as the first step in our design process. We typically start in Miro before going to Figma.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Its really helpful for virtual collaboration, especially in a large group. We use it for brainstorming when a lot of people's insight is needed. We'll put the timer and music on and let people just brain dump, and then sort all of the items into themes. I would say it's not as useful for in-person meetings. I also wish it were better at getting the information out of Miro and into an Excel document or something. There's no way (at least to my knowledge) to easily export items. I also feel like there's probably a lot of features that I don't know about because I don't think Miro does the best job at advertising all of its functionality (a lot of tech platforms run into this).
