Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro daily to develop process and strategy diagrams for my software development teams to reference as they build healthcare IT platforms. We also use Miro to better analyze systems, collaborate on user journeys, build low-fidelity wireframes, and dozens of other use cases where a whiteboard may be needed for a group of globally-distributed team members.

Pros

  • Build and maintain comprehensive user journey diagrams
  • Drill down through all levels of architectural complexity in a software system
  • Present updated process and strategy documentation to teams to gain buy-in and feedback
  • Model pharmacy protocol workflows with dozens of outcomes

Cons

  • I would like to have more control over the snap-to and alignment settings so that I can turn them on and off when I'm having issues formatting and aligning shapes.
  • Make it easier to publish shareable Miro boards to a web page rather than sharing in app (the embed function does a good job, though).
  • More consistent formatting when using AI, or allow the AI to adapt to user formatting preferences so that it can learn how I like to display certain flowchart elements.
  • It's changed the way I work. I haven't touched Vizio since I started using Miro. I can complete my diagramming needs in less than half the time it used to take me using Microsoft or Draw.io.
  • Improved adherence to architectural designs, allowing us to improve our delivery time by ~10%.
  • We have significantly reduced the variety of tools we use for whiteboarding and diagramming. Miro has effectively replaced Vizio, Balsamiq Mockups, Draw.io, and more.
It's almost perfect, I just want more ability to customize how the web interface works. There are a few scenarios where snap-to and shape alignment are clunky and frustrating to deal with. The layers are a FANTASTIC addition but they need some work to behave consistently, and it would be helpful to have a layers pane similar to Adobe tools. In addition, having some infinite canvas tools like rulers, point-to-point measurement, and ability to define grid scale (e.g., 1 inch, 1 foot, etc.) would make this a perfect product.
- The ability to present in Miro and to facilitate collaboration by summoning other users to your screen has really improved participation in team calls.
- Templates allow me to delegate some diagramming and collaboration tasks to others while ensuring alignment with my expectations. It improves the quality of everyone's work.
Yes. I no longer use wireframing software, Vizio, or Draw.io as a result of Miro. It is my default tool for most tasks.
It's better. I used to be a Mural fan when Miro first launched, but Miro immediately outpaced Mural in terms of performance, ease of use, and killer features. There was a time where mapping complex systems required a lot of custom shape creation in Visio, especially when the enterprise license had limited content libraries. Miro has all the shapes I need, no need to do custom development, and is all around a reliable, performant tool that is a pleasure to use.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

- Product strategy formulation, particularly when time and resources need to be assessed
- Process definition and alignment across large, distributed teams
- Modeling of systems and software at multiple levels of detail
- Presenting complex workflows that are poorly suited to PowerPoint
- Facilitating team participation in Agile ceremonies
- Sketching notes on a whiteboard when no one has a whiteboard
