Overall Satisfaction with New Relic
New Relic is used across my business unit and it is used for monitoring Infra, synthetics, dashboard, and alerting in case of any anomalies with the application.
- Monitoring Infra.
- Synthetics
- Dashboards
- Alerts
- APM
- Synthetics UI needs to be changed.
- New Relic One UI is not that much user friendly.
- Adding more inbuilt functions to NR SQL for date range queries.
- Monitoring wise it is well suited to my business.
- APM is the best thing and helps to improve my app performance.
- Logs integration taking more time even with fluent.
We mostly benefited from hybrid app performance where the dependencies of the application are mapped and monitoring the dependent services and detecting any anomalies by creating incident notifications.
We use New Relic for both our on-prem and cloud environments for monitoring and creating alerts. I don't see a big difference in the costs. But, monitoring helps us to avoid migration risk by comparing stats and metrics against on-prem.
Yes, the DevOps team benefited more in my organization by detecting issues upfront and avoiding the war rooms(which impact customers). Also getting alerts whenever the values go beyond the configured threshold values taking proactive steps to bring them back to normal.
Sometimes I feel that the New Relic comprises all the features from the tools which I mentioned above like monitoring infra, logs, and setting alarms and alerts.
