Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Web Experimentation

We use the AB testing builder to execute and launch tests across our website platforms.

Pros

  • The test builder/editor is easy to use and powerful.
  • Reporting & stat.sig. ratings are good.
  • The Opti support team is knowledgeable and good to work with.

Cons

  • I think the user interface is clunky and doesn't match the company's overall branding and usability.
  • The tools for CMP and App aren't on the same domain and don't talk with each other.
  • We're starting to earn winning test results, leading to better company bottom lines.
  • Homepage messaging testing has led directly to conversion increases.
It's an easy tool to implement across our various platforms, but it's difficult to understand how much monthly traffic we will need to buy to be effective on those extra domains.
It's nice to be able to do all of the building and some of the analyzing in the Optimizely tools, but we still need to use Asana internally for workflow management and Amplitude for data. Some of our main metrics are outside the scope of where the Optimizely snippet sits in our site code.

It would be great for a simpler eCommerce brand with easy-to-understand metrics and simple conversion funnels. We're not really that simple, so it makes the tool harder to use. But for those retail/eComm brands, it would be great.
