Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Web Experimentation

Our team uses Optimizely Web Experimentation to run a high volume of tests on different aspects and pages of our website and compare the impact of results on conversion rates. We also use Optimizely Data Platform, and have used both simultaneously to run tests on pre-determined/specific segments of our audiences.

Pros

  • Allows for customized results
  • Makes running intensive tests easy
  • Most settings are easy to understand, even for those with non-technical backgrounds

Cons

  • The ability to preview tests is a bit finnicky/difficult
  • I'd love to receive notifications with updates around my test performances or audience imbalances
  • Setting up redirects can be a bit confusing at first
  • Increased conversions + revenue from successful experiments
  • Increased user personalization & overall better site experience
  • Time saved on test implementation
I'm not personally on our experimentation team, who is the main owner of this platform, but I have had a very easy time learning and using Optimizely Web Experimentation as a member of a different department. It was easy and quick to have my settings adjusted and I use it across multiple sites.
Our team has been able to use the segmentation tool within Optimizely Data Platform to identify and run tests across highly specified audiences within Optimizely Web Experimentation. Though the functionality this process still seems to be in progress and it is a little clunky, we've used this feature a few times and are very pleased to finally be able to do this!
Increased personalization, more granular testing, and increased conversions.
The ability to design and run multiple tests as well as analyze results within a single platform increases our entire organizations' output and has greatly cut down on the amount of time we spend working through large-scale tests. I would not use a testing platform if it did not offer us all of these abilities in one place.

As someone who previously had little to no experiencing running tests, this product made it easy for me to learn how quickly. I have no technical background, but by asking questions and seeing how teammates set up tests, I was able to learn the platform and get the ball rolling on net new tests easily.
