Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Web Experimentation

We are a consultancy company that utilize Optimizely Web Experimentation for our clients. We are heavy into experimentation and starting to introduce personalization.

Pros

  • Accessible experimentation for net-new programs
  • Previewing on the site with the debugger tool - allowing us to debug custom metrics as well
  • WZYWIG tools

Cons

  • Integration with GA4, we're experiencing data-loss of about 15%
  • Having to create custom tracking that doesn't always translate
  • The stats engine over-simplifies the results if you aren't trained to interpret.
  • Risk mitigation
  • Trying out new content
  • Quick iterations
I think Optimizely Web Experimentation is accessible, easy to use, and fun! But it does over-simplify the results and that takes deep understanding to scale.
We use it to split A/B/n traffic and build, we do all other things outside of the tool
