Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server

Parallels RAS is mostly used within our company by our remote sales team and a few telecommuters. Additionally, our Graphic Arts Supervisor uses it to access our LOB application from her MAC Pro. RAS has allowed the company to easily and cost effectively enable the users to access all applications which our internal users utilize on a daily basis. The previous software we used for this purpose was a nightmare and moving to RAS has been virtually problem free.
  • RAS is easy to configure and easy for our end users to utilize.
  • The cost effectiveness of RAS along with its feature set was a perfect fit for our organization.
  • When support is needed, they are there in a relatively quick time frame.
  • US Based support would be helpful. The few times we needed support, it was difficult to understand the support tech.
  • Better online knowledge base for first line of defense for support issues.
  • The ROI with RAS can be measured in no downtime for our users versus the previous product we used. It seems that the prior product we used was always having connection issues, but RAS runs smoothly and without worry that we're going to have an outage.
  • In today's world, the ability to provide access to LOB applications is crucial. The major part of our sales team works on the East Coast with the main office in Western Pennsylvania. Having a stable platform for our remote workers was crucial to the success of our business.
There is no comparison to the ease of configuration, end user experience and cost of RAS compared to other products. The previous product we used seemed like it was held together with "tin cans and string" compared to RAS.
We absolutely benefited from the ease-of-use of RAS due to its simplicity and thoughtful design. Reduced down time and elimination of lost connections has enabled our remote workers to increase productivity and reduce support calls.
Our remote users use Windows 10, Apple Mac's, iPads and iPhones to connect when necessary. The experience on any of the devices has been without issues and provides the same user experience regardless of the platform being used to access the RAS system.
The inclusion of MFA in RAS, especially with the latest version expanding this capability, enables better security along with the multiple policy settings within the software.
I think the online knowledge base needs to be expanded and more user friendly. We typically turn to the KB first, and frequently stumble requiring us to reach out to RAS support. Often times they refer us to a KB article which we weren't able to discover on our own. This sometimes results in a short delay in fixing an issue.

In the few "major" issues we have had, it as difficult to talk to the support engineers due to language barriers and time differences.

The cost of RAS alone should be one of the top reasons to at least test the product. I have numerous colleagues who use the "C" products and seem to have nothing but issues. While it might simply be configuration errors, it seems that everyone I talk to who uses a competitive product to RAS seems to have continuing problems. RAS offers a trial period which would allow anyone thinking of switching or using RAS to find how easy and problem free it truly is to use.
