Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
The intent for our use of Paylocity is to have the full service Payroll/HR usability. We have hoped to have effective usability during the full employee life cycle.
Pros
- Web-Self Service
- Ability to process payroll batches with ease
- Cutting checks with the ability to have Direct Deposit
Cons
- The PTO functionality and the tracking of how things are recorded in the system. Not everything seems to be recorded in the history. Also, the setup is not intuitive when resetting yearly usage.
- The reporting is not good. Understanding how to build a custom report is overwhelming and not user friendly when trying to insert certain fields. It is also tough to know what report is for what. It would be great of a glossary of terms that are helpful to identify what field can be used for what.
- The automation of forms is not helpful. It would be great if managers/HR team members could initiate automated change/bonus request forms and route things for signature to the appropriate folks. We have had a couple walk throughs of this and unfortunately we are very limited on the form automation.
- Tax processing is also complex. We have had to hire someone to our team to manage all tax matters. We now understand through some explanation from a sales rep that local taxes are not managed by Paylocity, it would be really helpful to understand why localities aren't part of tax services. Unfortunately, this was not explained to us when we started working with Paylocity and it left us in very difficult situations with State jurisdictions.
- Our experience with our account managers have not been good. Since I started with Cerapedics in January this year we have already had 3 changes to our account management team. This is really frustrating when trying to get service that is suitable for our needs. Our current account manager is very short in their responses and does not provide the details we need to troubleshoot questions or changes we need to make in the system. We have escalated our concerns to a new sales rep. and will work through the concerns with them. I think it is truly important for this to be documented as well. We have more issues and concerns that we are addressing with them in addition to what I have listed here.
- We have had to hire staff to manage our tax localities.
- We are needing to create forms outside the system to manage employment changes
- We are tracking our employee information outside the system (Census) to ensure we have the correct data.
- Reporting is difficult and almost manual. Examples of this are when we are reviewing data with auditors, non-discrim files for 401K, creating custom reporting.
We are hoping that things can improve with our experience in Paylocity so we can focus on these other high-value objectives.
We have not had a chance to use these tools.
ADP - HR Powersource and ProBusiness and report writer - doesn't compare to the report writing capabilities. Paylocity does have more functionality with payroll processing which I appreciate and the systems are connected which is helpful as well. SAP SuccessFactors - the system is really good and full service. The recruiting options are great along with, succession planning, comp planning, review processes and team talent management.
