Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We have used Paylocity to process our payroll for many years. This past fall we transitioned our time-keeping to Paylocity as well, and wish we had made the change sooner. Our most recent change with Paylocity was to move from bi-weekly pay schedule of Wednesday to Tuesday, to weekly pay schedule of Monday to Friday. Each time we have made a change, or added a product/module, there has been someone assigned to provide guidance, and troubleshoot as needed, and things have gone smoothly. One of the features our managers love about the new Time & Labor module, is that they can see a calendar of approved and pending time off requests, which is very helpful for scheduling.
- paycheck transparency
- ease of adding a lot of information for new hires
- easy to use time clock
- leave calendar for managers
- Our assigned representative seems to change often, and are often unavailable, so I just call the helpdesk, who are very helpful. It makes me wonder why they feel the need to have an assigned rep.
- there is no dedicated phone number for the tax team, you have to have your question routed through the main email or with a call to the helpdesk, which can be stressful at year-end as you wait on an unnamed person to get back to the middleman who just happened to take your helpdesk call on that day
- By integrating Time & Labor with Payroll & HR to process payroll, our payroll errors are limited to incorrect approvals of time/time-off. This is great for our employees, as no one wants to have a payroll error.
- I like that when I receive a payroll tax notice, I can send that to Paylocity's help desk who will send that to their tax team for review and get an answer without having to figure the answer out for myself.
- Using some of the data insights/metrics, we have been able to improve employee retention, and see where efforts to improve retention were not worth the cost
We have been able to streamline the payroll process so that it takes less time, with fewer errors. We have several schedules set up to chose from at hiring that then flow through to their timecard automatically. Their system for employees to request time off is simple and easy to use, and many of our employees appreciate that they can set the app to Spanish.
- Ascentis (discontinued) and QuickBooks Time
We used QuickBooks Time, and migrated from that to Paylocity Time & Labor. We attempted to use Ascentis, but after 4 weeks of back and forth, we made little progress, despite a rigorous set of Demo's were we tried to make sure they could deliver what we needed in time tracking. I am not too surprised to see they are now listed as discontinued. We were happy enough with QuickBooks Time, but are very glad to have moved to a system that is built to work together. Additionally, when we have data we are trying to extract, they have customizable reports, which makes it easy to get the data we need, when we need it.

Using Paylocity

Like to use Relatively simple Easy to use Technical support not required Well integrated Consistent Quick to learn Convenient Feel confident using Familiar | None |
- time import from Time & Labor into HR & Payroll to complete payroll processing
- Reviewing time cards, time off requests, and punch correction requests
- running scenarios using a test check calculator for employees wanting to know how changes to their withholdings, or benefit elections will change their take home pay
- getting answers from the tax team can be a process of asking a representative with the helpdesk who forwards the question on, and then acts as a middle man
Yes - The mobile interface works well, but requires employees to change passwords regularly, or not at all. There is no way to select groups that have more stringent requirements than others, because they work in the system versus an employee who only is using the device to clock in and out as an hourly worker.
