Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use Paylocity primarily for payroll processing. We utilize the time tracking for hourly employees as well.
Pros
- Payroll processing
- Can usually get a live person on the other end of a call fairly timely
Cons
- Add a feature for Admins to be able to impersonate the end user. It is difficult to walk an employee through something when you cannot the same screen they can.
- Paycheck calculator is not particularly intuitive, especially for the end user.
- Knowledge base: not very easy to find what you need and end user documents (job aids that I could send to employees to figure out how to do what they need) are not the best.
- Time Cards are a little quirky as far as if an employee tries to correct something it is more difficult than it should be. Also not sure why you have to "approve" each and every entry/punch. It should be "submit" instead of "approve" and "approve" should be reserved for what you do at the end of the pay period to let supervisor know you have entered all of your time and are ready for them to approve it.
- The mobile app should allow all of the same functionality as the website, at least from the end-user perspective. For example, mobile users cannot access document acknowledgements they need to sign.
- Make it easier to have multiple screens of Paylocity open at the same time (for example, add a pop out button option when you hover over a menu item).
- Time savings
Time tracking has saved time and made it easier for employees. Self-service items like employees changing their own direct deposit accounts, W-4 settings, and printing pay stubs/W-2s saves time for payroll administrators as well.
We don't currently use much of the employee engagement features.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - Paycor. We replaced Paycor with Paylocity because we were no longer satisfied with the level of support we were receiving from Paycor.
- Cloud Solutions
- Ease of Use
- Other
We were looking for support to be readily available when we needed it without long hold times. We were also concerned about cost and Paylocity seemed to be the best "bang for the buck" at the time.
Implemenation is key, so I think I might focus more of my attention on the implementation process to ensure the vendor I chose had a solid process and could guarantee experienced indivduals would be assigned to my project. I would also want them to spend some time understanding our needs before jumping in on implementation and also have a strong training program.
