Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a non profit organization with 25 employees and we have remote employees in 7 states.

Pros and Cons

Pros

ACH and deposits made quickly
Payroll seems accurate
News items that affect payroll are distributed timely

Cons

Moving between the time function and payroll function and having to import the time seems odd since it's all the same program
Sometimes support takes a bit longer than I would like to respond to tax notices
Fees to refile a tax return that is already prepared are very high
Navigation to do the higher level admin stuff is a little difficult and is not intuitive. I think it's the naming of the functions that don't make it clear

Paylocity Automated Processes

I think Paylocity has automated core processes such as payroll. We do not use the scheduling feature so I do not have a comment on that but that would be useful.

Paylocity Employee Engagement

We have not harnessed these tools. We are fully remote so we use our Teams platform for this

The two companies are similar. I feel like Paycor lets me have a little more access to admin level things so I can just do it and get on with my life instead of waiting around for support to complete a task like adding a state.

Overall Paylocity does a good job. I worked with Paycor in a previous job and i had more access to admin type things which made functioning in the system easier. For example I could set up my own tax codes for states and update unemployment rates. With Paylocity I have to fill out a form and submit it. Paycor had a lot of standard payroll deductions or additions already set up so you could add HSA deductions and all of the taxes were already set, etc.

Paylocity is a solid payroll processing software
