Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity for Payroll processing, performance reviews, benefit administration, data insights, etc. I wish there was more sophistication with the reporting and the workflows. I would also like to see the benefits module to be upgraded. We do not like the Mass manage benefits feature. I feel like every issue has to be solved with a mass manage benefits. I also wish the different departments in Paylocity had some level of cross training. There have been multiple times where I have bounced back and forth between benefits, and HR&payroll.

Pros

  • I do appreciate that there is a user-friendly app for employees
  • I find the dynamic reports very helpful. I like that I am able to add any fields or filter easily

Cons

  • Customer service: Cross training within the Paylocity departments (Benefits, HR & Payroll, Spending accounts, etc.) Also, I think reps should be encouraged to start a screenshare rather than talking on the phone.
  • I do wish the different modules were more seamlessly connected. Example: spending accounts does not have visibility into corrections that are made in Payroll for FSA.
  • Paylocity is supposed to be an all-in-one solution, but it feels disconnected at times.
  • In payroll, I wish there was an easier way to "make up" deductions. If someone was out on leave and they need to make up their deductions, we have to manually enter each code. There has to be an easier and clear way to do this. In UKG, you were able to manipulate each deduction/earning on the check.
  • Paylocity is definitely cheaper than UKG
Our EDI connections with our benefit vendors have been very helpful. Saves a lot of time and lowers administrative burden.
We haven't really used any engagement tools in Paylocity.

Our employees only login to download w-2s, view paystubs, and enroll in benefits.
We were frustrated with the customer service at UKG. The response time for cases would be multiple days/weeks.

If you have less than 200 employees, Paylocity should work for you. We have about 220 employees, and it seems like a lot at times.
