Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We switched to Paylocity in 2016, and it has been an upgrade and worth the decision ever since. We use the Onboarding, Time & Labor modules and well as the HR Payroll system. The combination of these modules has decreased the time used to manage, enter, and process payroll by 75-80%. Paylocity is a flexible, intuitive system with multiple robust solutions for complete HR needs. Paylocity is a technology company that does HR Payroll, not a payroll company trying to give technology services. They are constantly improving the system while maintaining its intuitive nature. If there is any issue, their support for their products is quick and responsive, no matter if it is your team lead or another person answering the questions that arise.
Pros
- HR payroll system.
- Upgrading and improving systems quarterly.
- Support for their services is top notch.
Cons
- I honestly have nothing to add.
- We saved 75-80% of the time used to process a payroll.
- The slight increase in cost was easily offset by the support Paylocity supplies for its productss and services.
To reiterate, Paylocity's solutions decreased our timesheet and payroll processing time by 75-80%. It has eliminated the need for binders upon binders of physical timecards and supervisor approvals. The ability for employees and supervisors to enter, adjust and approve time off via the app and not need to take a laptop everywhere has increased compliance and follow up time.
We do not use these offerings to their fullest as we have a legacy system for providing these services.
Paylocity's systems outperform Paycor's offerings in speed and ease of use. Paylocity's security and encryption of personnel data were lightyears ahead, and multiple factors were higher than industry requirements. The sales and support teams both exceeded expectations with the implementation and ongoing use of Paylocity. I never hesitate to ask for support, even if it isn't with my account manager. Customer Support has never rushed a call or made any issue seem "beneath" them.

Paylocity Feature Ratings
Using Paylocity
125 - Our employees using Paylocity range from high level administrators, supervisor level employees approving time sheets and time off requests all the way to employees who use it for time off requests, recording time sheets and a self-service portal that is used as a hub that lists company documents and notification information.
1 - Paylocity has world class support. Our client account manager is always there to help with any issues and when he is not available there is not a step down to the support we receive from another support staff person.
As the in house person, my main function is to help guide employees to find the information housed inside Paylocity when a non-normal request comes about.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - We were using Paycor prior to switching to Paylocity. The switch was driven by several factors. First, and the most important, was Paylocity's understanding and commitment to security of employee data in all their systems. When we chose to switch in 2015 they're security protocols were multiples above industry requirements. Secondly, their basis as a technology company that is in the payroll business and not a payroll company trying to do technology. Their system is constantly updating and adapting to the interfaces people are use to interacting with while keeping the requirements needed for the system. Lastly, was the ability to structure the system to meet corporate level and entity level needs with all their module offerings.
- Scalability
- Ease of Use
When we switched back in 2015 it was in response to the passage of the ACA act and accurate, timely reporting was necessary to be in compliance with the new laws that were passed. Paylocity's scalability across the 70 plus different type of entities of our corporation was necessary to adapt to the new needs we had. Being able to roll each entity up was a requirement, but the ability to allow the different entities their own flexibility allow company, entity and employee buy in to the switch
The only change that could have helped would have been a longer timeline during our selection process. However, that was a company driven issue and not one with Paylocity. Paylocity reacted to a condensed 5 week implementation for 70 entities and corporate structure needs. The implementation process was smooth and Paylocity's team was instrumental in guiding each entity in having their systems up and running with what they needed. Paylocity truly did the whole process with the end in mind at the beginning and provided excellent support throughout the process.
Paylocity Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled - Paylocity made the implementation process seamless and easy in a condensed window. Their implementation staff were knowledgeable about their systems and the process and were great at asking the right questions to provoke the necessary answer to set up the system they way we wanted and fit our entity and its requirements.
- Condensed implementation window (our issue, not Paylocity)
Paylocity Support

Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed No escalation required Immediate help available Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
No, it has never been necessary. I repeat myself, but I do not worry about not getting to my client service account manager. Every support staff person has been helpful, courteous, friendly and take the time to make sure each issue is not just solved, but find the root issue to make sure any issues doesn't happen again.
Every time I deal with Paylocity it is exceptional, but if I pick one it would be when we were expanding our use of their Web Time module. I spent around an hour over two phone calls speaking with our client account manager going over what we wanted and what the system could do. She took the time to ask all the right questions and was so knowledgeable about their systems that we ended up adjusting how we were using the system and getting even more than what we wanted to do.
