Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
Paylocity is our Payroll Provider. Our current issue is that payroll reporting is a bit confusing to run and manipulate. After onboarding, there is almost no communication with the company. It is normal to have to reach out when there are issues, but we were told we would be walked through everything at a high level. The onboarding felt extremely rushed, and all of the different aspects of Paylocity were stacked on top of each other. Heaven forbid we have other business responsibilities to tend to, so we didn't get to build out the sections we are paying for fully, and now get to muddle through the buildout with the "help" section instead of people who have done it before. The overall system is good and pretty simple to use, once you've done it a handful of times.
Pros
- Great Employee App that is easy to use and employees enjoy.
- Easy to read interface.
- Pretty good reporting (if you can figure it out).
Cons
- Space out trainings during onboarding to help with buildout time.
- Less focus on the "community" aspect of the software for companies that don't need it.
- Improve the ease of Paytype setup and ORG settings.
- Time for implementation is based on how fast you can move, but it felt forced.
- So far, it has been a net neutral change from NetSuite (where our accounting is). The data transfer isn't perfect.
- Payroll is faster and easier to run. Saving us time in the long run.
Paylocity’s automation has significantly improved the speed and efficiency of our payroll processing, allowing HR to focus more on strategic initiatives and financial responsibilities since we have a combined department. However, some challenges with accounting accuracy and organizational setup, particularly for managing 1099 contractors, require additional adjustments.
There hasn't been a significant impact due to our company already having a "community" type system in place. The videos would be a nice selling point, but again, the onboarding process felt rushed and we have yet to set those things up. Once set up, I'm sure it will have a much greater impact!
Paylocity offers a complete HR and payroll platform with strong automation, time tracking, employee engagement tools, and compliance support. It’s ideal for companies needing a people-focused system. NetSuite Payroll, by contrast, is a basic payroll add-on built for companies already using NetSuite ERP, offering deep financial integration but limited HR features. If your priority is efficient payroll tied directly to accounting, NetSuite fits. For broader HR needs and a better employee experience, Paylocity is stronger.
