Why I like Paylocity
Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
I use Paylocity for time and labor, payroll and onboarding new employees. We will also be using Paylocity to track Paid Sick Time for our part time employees per the new NE law. I use Paylocity to keep performance documentation on every employee. Paylocity has saved me many hours of my labor time over our previous systems, that didn't work well together. Now these systems are "under one roof".
Pros
- Onboarding
- Payroll
- Time and Labor; clocking in and out for part time employees
- Scheduling is very user friendly for my managers
Cons
- I had difficulty finding where to change access level to one of my P-level employees; had to "drill down" to find it.
- Switching to Paylocity has reduced the time I spend on running payroll each week
- Bringing payroll and time card management under the same application is very helpful; has reduced mistakes and missed time cards
Paylocity has reduced my time spent on payroll and time card tracking. I used to spend as much as one whole day every week gathering time cards, fixing time card errors, and inputting time card information manually, now I spend 2-3 hours a week on Payroll.
We haven't used these features too much yet.
We outgrew Quickbooks; it's limited functionality no longer served us. Homebase and Quickbooks were supposed to "talk to each other" but it ALWAYS resulted in errors that would cost me precious time tracking down. Paylocity is an all-in-one product.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - Quickbooks payroll, not robust enough for our growing entities. Homebase, no integration of timecards with Quickbooks. Paylocity makes this so much easier
- Scalability
- Integration with Other Systems
- Ease of Use
Integration with other systems makes my life as HR much easier
I might ask more questions around the cost to add features/products to our subscription as we grow and our needs change.
