Configuration is key to success

The application is used as our enterprise project and portfolio management solution. All projects and programs are managed within the application. All technology resources use the application for time entry and tracking. Our methodology controls are built into the application workplan templates.

To ensure projects adhere to our defined methodology and deliver according to our internal policies, we have integrated the methodolgy into our workplans.

We have configured work plans that allign to our project methodology which ensures project deliverables are produced as required, approvals are automatically sent to the appropriate stakeholder, etc. This means less manual review and control testing. This includes a configured interface wit ServiceNow to ensure appropriate technology change processes are followed, and SharePoint so delivered are captured and viewed directly through the tool.

Reporting is a core strength within the application. Every user has the ability to create or modify reports to meet their departmental needs. Dashboards provide portfolio views of project health and state which can be viewed at virtually any level across the enterprise.

ServiceNow allows easy integration of technology processes into our workflow and provides means of providing data toward application cost of ownership. SharePoint allows seamless integration for document storage and approval flows. Workday provides ability to manage resources. Oracle Identity Manager allows for provisioning of user access by roles. Working toward integration with Jira and Planview Portfolio.

We have been able to integrate many disparate processes into our workflow. Many stakeholder areas such as Security, Customer advocy, etc. have internal processes that interact with the project management process. Our configuration allows us to incorporate components of those processes, or controls to ensure those processes are executed.

We use the application to support only internal project management. On average there are 700 projects in flight covering nearly $1B in annual spend. We have over 12,000 internal users.
