Procore Review for Project Construction Management
Overall Satisfaction with Procore
Procore is being used by our company to perform project management of construction projects we oversee as the general contract at-risk. It addresses problems such as file management, RFI and submittals, and project financials.
Pros
- Procore handles project financials very well including project budgets and change management.
- Procore can also be used as a cloud-based file storage platform for sharing of files to other parties involved in the construction project.
- Procore does RFI and submittal management very well. Routing to necessary parties for review is intuitive to set up and use.
Cons
- The cloud-based storage platform could have better organization of folders. It's not as intuitive as other cloud servers.
- The submittal review process can only be done in series. I'm not sure if this is company specific or Procore, but it delays the review process.
- You can upload plans to Procore for access on job site through an iPad. It would help if you could annotate plans for punch items similar to PlanGrid.
- PlanGrid, CMiC Project Management and Box
Procore does not have the capabilities that PlanGrid has as site applications, but it does offer more modules. Therefore, it was selected for offering more project management tools.
Procore is more intuitive to use than CMiC. Furthermore, you have the abilities to make changes post-move, which is important if mistakes or typos are made.
We use BOX and Procore for file sharing. Ultimately, we use BOX more, but since Procore does offer the service, it would make sense to use it in lieu of.

Yes, its been very convenient with sharing submittals and RFI's with owners, subcontractors, and the Design team. For specific examples, the concrete subcontractor needed to know where to place embeds before a concrete pour. We were able to email him a copy of the approved pre-pour drawings through Procore. From there, he could access the plans from his iPad on site.
- Procore allows our office to be truly paperless. I haven't had to print anything because it is more efficient to send electronic files through Procore.
- Procore is time efficient as it acts as the database for submittals and RFI's. Files do not need to be redundantly saved.
- Procore's project budget module is very powerful in highlighting errors in the budget when doing forecast reviews.
- Gain visibility into projects
- Ensure information is accessible and up to date
- Document job site conditions
- Report on incidents and inspections
- Track cost impacts from the field
- Streamline financial reporting
- Improve forecast accuracy
Procore has modules to address all the aforementioned goals with regard to project management. For my use, I believe that the financial management modules are one of the better systems I've used. Furthermore, it's convenient to have access to other projects, which allows me to see how financials were set up for other projects.
