Overall Satisfaction with Prophix

We use it to consolidate financial data coming in from different ERPs , weekly & quarterly forecasting, our annual budgeting process, as well as miscellaneous financial analysis requested, specially now that we have several years of data. We create ad hoc reports as well as as workflows for controllers to enter information for month end close.

Pros

  • Ability to build/customize reports
  • Named sets
  • automated processes to bring in data

Cons

  • Workflow email notifications don't always work well (bugs)
  • Prophix M365 had a lot of issues this year
  • report binders are nice but would like to be able to specify what to print so we don't have multiple copies of the same report
  • streamlined budget process
  • workflows let people know when they need to turn in their information and that helps us have our financial data in a more timely manner
  • faster month end closes
Prior to Prophix we used a ridiculous amount of excel spreadsheets and it would get confusing because people would grab the wrong version, formulas would break, and it was just a lot more work in general. We still use Excel with M365 but we have cut its use about 70% if I had to make an educated guess.
They have great training materials to show how to work the system. It is not as intuitive but once you get it, you get it. There is a small learning curve and it helps if you're involved with building the cubes and setting everything up.

Yes

I think Prophix is better suited for businesses that might not be as complex or have larger amounts of data. For example we have a lot of moving parts and sources in ours so we have like 10 cubes and it does get tedious to manage all that, and we do run into performance issues.

Growing with Prophix

We've had great success with Prophix in terms of financial reporting and creating different types of reports that help management analyze OpCo's performance.
We've created "Time Stamps" to track when people submit their workflows.
Overall it has been good.
