Overall Satisfaction with Raiser's Edge NXT

We are not currently using NXT, but reviewed it thoroughly when we were due to renew Raiser's Edge. The (small) price jump in upgrading to NXT vs. renewing what we have made the choice for us, as we had no room in our budget for the added cost. Also, we partner with a much larger institution who uses a different system which we need to consider.

When I learned more about NXT, I pushed to get us upgraded, and to have NXT used by our entire Development staff.

Here are a few of the features that sold me personally, and that I wish I had access to now:
  • Web-based platform - allows secure access to donor records from any computer or mobile device
  • Donor retention reports - I'd see which donors are in danger of lapsing
  • Analytics - We currently pay for target analytics, and having it 'built in' to our database would streamline our process
  • Crowd and social fundraising tools - Fundraising channels we are exploring
  • The Web-based platform is a huge leap forward. Having access to donor records on the road, means that I have all the information I need at any moment.
  • Multi-channel communications, integrating email and direct mail appeals is another big step ahead. We use multiple channels for fundraising appeals, and having them together in one system - another improvement.
  • Crowd and social fundraising tools - I wanted to explore these more. We currently do some of this, but what we do is a lot of work and not scaleable.
  • Tying NXT package pricing to the number of records in our database.
  • Importing records is complicated
  • Running a query is still a chore.
  • The look of NXT, while an improvement over RE7, already looks dated compared to other (non CRM) web-based services I've used.
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Increased revenue from new donors
  • Increased revenue from existing donors
  • Increased scalability due to cloud deployment
Not yet, as we needed to wait before upgrading, but I am approaching our next budget cycle as an opportunity to try again.
Yes, I frequently use online help and forums to learn new features, troubleshoot problems, or ask a question.

None - We are happy with Blackbaud and wanted to stay with Raiser's Edge.
Very well-suited for mid-size to large shops with people on the road, visiting donors, or interested in having easier access to donors records at events.

Less well-suited for very small shops, which are more the norm in our area.
