Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
We use Sage Intacct as our main finance and accounting system, for AP, AR, staff reimbursements, financial tracking and reporting. We are a non-profit with much of our funding coming from government grants so we much be able to track our spending very carefully - as such we have GLs, item codes set up within each GL, as well as Cost Centres, project codes, and funding resources as our dimensions to track all revenues and expenditures.
Pros
- Lots of dimensions that we use to track each expense
- Great customizable reports
- Simple interface
Cons
- Sage Intacct itself is rather barebones. The purchasing flow from PO to invoice to payment is not intuitive
- Needs to have more robust approvals system, for example delegating approval for when you are on vacation
- Native EFT payment for AP in Canada
- Prettier interface
- More robust tax coding (as a non-profit we receive a government rebate on GST/HST and would love to have automated coding across all modules of Sage Intacct that allow us to code things by tax code and the system automatically calculates and splits out the taxes)
- Overall our whole business runs on Sage Intacct- as a registered charity it is super important to be able to track our expenses very accurately and in a detailed manner which Sage Intacct allows, a huge positive impact
- Being able to track our grants and having accurate reporting for government organizations is priceless to us
- Negative impacts would include a very basic AP module that doesn't natively do EFT payments
- Another negative impact would be the time and expenses module - the UI is not easy for employees and overall time consuming and difficult to enter data (partly our own fault for having so many dimensions)
- AP automation would be great
We have not used native Sage Intacct automation - was not aware AP automation is live and included in our subscription.
We do have multiple entities which is great, as our organization continues to expand globally these will be very valuable to us
None currently, other software was evaluated before we integrated Sage Intacct but that was before my time at the company so I am not familiar with which ones. Overall Sage Intacct was the best solution with the multiple configurable dimensions, and filtered lists to make sure our users can input data correctly. In terms of AP automation we have looked at integrating Beanworks, Tipalti, Salesforce, Float for credit cards.
