Love Sage Intacct
Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
We replaced QuickBooks with Sage Intacct in 2021 to better be able to track restricted dollars. I selected the product because it seemed intuitive—designed by accountants. Sage Intacct is great. It offers several dimensions, so you can slice and dice your financial data in innumerable ways. We are currently using Intacct as our ERP.
Pros
- Segregates transactions associated with different funders
- Maintains records electronically
- Allows lots of customization in reports
Cons
- The grants module is difficult to understand/implement
- Training isn’t geared towards NFPs
- We had outgrown QB. I never have to worry that Sage Intacct will crash and we’ll lose everything.
- When I came on board, accounting did not have a good way to track restricted dollars. Sage Intacct fixed that.
- We are able to close each month much faster.
All of the automations have made my team more efficient. Our organization has grown dramatically over the last several years. It helps that we don’t have to keep reinventing the wheel. We also use dynamic allocations, which is a huge timesaver.
We recently implemented the projects/grants module, so we’re still trying to wrap our heads around it. That module has time & expense; we currently outsource that function. We also have Sage Intacct Planning, which we are re-building out with some changes in structure.
As a CPA in public accounting, I was exposed to many systems. I was in on the ground floor with the implementation of NetSuite for a client; it was clunky, the reporting was ugly, and it wasn’t user friendly. Sage Intacct is a great option for mid-size organizations who have outgrown Quickbooks.

Sage Intacct Feature Ratings
Not-For-Profit Usage
Grant tracking, expense management, reporting. Sage Intacct also integrates with Salesforce, which was already in place when we chose Sage Intacct. We only have 3 accountants; the automations help us stay efficient. The approval routing is also a time saver.
- Bill.com
- Sage Intacct Planning
We are still in the discovery phase of integration with Salesforce. Integrating with the Center Card (bill.com) has been easy. SIP is difficult to manage with complex funding models.
I have designed dashboards for several stakeholders. They’re easy to use, easily customizable, and keep our people up to date.
It has helped us keep the accounting team lean, which ultimately frees more funds for our core services.
