Overall Satisfaction with Semrush
My agency uses Semrush across channels of SEO, PPC, competitor research, and content marketing. We use it to gain inside information on what our client competitors are doing, how their sites are being reviewed and indexed by search engines, and it allows us to build out some great content marketing strategies that are not easily available on other platforms.
- SEO Site Audits--Easy to run, keep on top of, and gives enough detail to make informed decisions
- Domain Overview--Really great for competitor research and see what competitors are ranking for, paid traffic, and backlinks
- Content Marketing--Really easy to use their content marketing tool to find new content to develop into a solid, robust content marketing strategy
- Backlink Analysis and Audit--I do not like that its limited to a max number of what Semrush thinks are important links; it would be good if it could do a deep report on all live links
- Position Tracking--I have found these to be out by quite a few places sometimes
- Organic Traffic in Domain Overview--Again, its not very close based on the way it calculates search volume, position, and potential CTR
- Cannibalization--It would be good to get some inside information in how to fix it
- Site Audits--Sometimes it throws up issues with a site, but doesn't offer a good way to fix them
- It's had a positive impact, due to the fact that I use it to run site audits (along with some other platforms) and I can quickly run audits and get reports
- Great for competitor analysis, which is very powerful when sharing with clients
I use each of these products for various things with our clients, and I tend to use them in collaboration with each other or for a client need. For instance, I would use Ahrefs/Majestic to get a full view of what the backlinks are to a client site and not Semrush. I use Screaming Frog to run analysis of a site size and issues, alongside Semrush.
