Overall Satisfaction with Skype (discontinued)

As a Skype user, I interact with my peers in real-time, making it easy to make decisions that benefit the organization. Additionally, since it is a global product, people can reach out to their colleagues from anywhere, as long as they have a machine and an internet connection.

Pros

  • Video conferencing.
  • Internal messaging.
  • Meeting management.

Cons

  • Timely updates.
  • Platform compatibility.
  • Frequent call drops.
  • Global interaction.
  • Costs involved.
  • Less advanced features.
Seeing the positive aspects of the product, it enables global interaction between people, whether professional or personal; it is easier to connect from anywhere, at any time. Easy to share what we are working on with a broad audience. As a negative side, some technical issues and less frequent updates hinder productivity.
Selected Skype because it was the only platform that was available for such purposes for video conferencing or audio conferencing. Since Microsoft, the tech giant, backed it, it was assured that it would work great in terms of productivity, with utmost security measures for all data, conversations, work materials, and personal information.

Do you think Skype (discontinued) delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Skype (discontinued)'s feature set?

Yes

Did Skype (discontinued) live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Skype (discontinued) go as expected?

No

Would you buy Skype (discontinued) again?

No

Having interacted with a new replacement tool, Microsoft Teams, it is challenging to recommend Skype, as it lacks some essential features, such as being less equipped with the latest updates, and it is not platform-independent, causing issues on PCs and phones, as well as during calls that might hinder work.
