Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business (formerly Lync)

Skype for Business is used throughout the company I work for, a company of over 1800 employees. The company has locations in twelve states across the U.S., as well as being in the U.K. and China. It's great to be able to chat.
  • Skype for Business is great for chatting with individuals or groups.
  • I hold monthly webinars for employees across the company using Skype for Business and the process is seamless.
  • My work phone is tied to Skype for Business. I can use the app to manage my business calls and meetings on mobile.
  • It's a little clunky when it comes to sharing image files.
  • The mobile app doesn't save phone numbers.
  • The contacts section could be smoother.
  • Skype for Business ties in nicely with Office 365. If your company uses Microsoft Office products, then Skype is great for collaboration and communication.
  • Skype for Business is not as robust as other comparable tools like Slack.
Skype for Business is fairly user-friendly and has a good UI. It has strong audio and video conference call capabilities. It's easy to conduct meetings with various stakeholders across different locations and timezones. The chat and share a file or share my screen functions work seamlessly. If your company uses Office 365, then I would highly recommend it.
I've never had a need for support when using Skype for Business. Overall the product is extremely stable. I hold monthly webinars with internal stakeholders from various departments all across the company and never experienced any lost calls or dropouts. The audio and video quality of the conference calls are extremely high.
We as a company are just beginning to use Slack. Since the company is so integrated with Office 365, it only made sense to incorporate Skype for Business. While the online chat features may not be as strong as other products like Slack, it does make up for it with its strong audio and video conference call capabilities.
What makes Skype for Business work so well is its integration with the whole Microsoft Office Suite. I can create Skype meetings on Outlook, present a powerpoint presentation while conducting an online meeting, and share content easily during the course of a meeting. Skype for Business makes a conference call easy. The instant messaging and video chat features are strong.
