Overall Satisfaction with Slack
Slack is used in most departments in our company. We switched from using Skype to Slack around two years ago and I wouldn't go back. The mobile app is incredibly convenient when I am away from my desk. It helps keep everyone in communication when necessary.
- The mobile app is incredible. It is very easy to use and modify your notifications. When using other mobile messaging services, I never had this much control.
- Being able to switch between multiple channels in a second or two is incredibly helpful. I have multiple internal channels as well as a few external channels and everything is very easy to access whenever I need it.
- The app is very non invasive. When I don't want to see my chat window, I am able to hide it but still see all pertinent notifications and pick up right where I left off.
- My one complaint about Slack is that the free version doesn't offer more storage space for old conversations. I wish I was able to pick and choose which conversations counted towards the limit of messages stored with the free service.
- The ROI for us with Slack has been great. Communication is easier than ever and we haven't paid a dime for the service yet.
- The only negative impact is not being able to search through older conversations past a certain point because we use the free version.
- Skype and IBM Sametime
Slack is a far superior product. Skype did not have enough features and the mobile app was garbage comparatively. Sametime was one of the worst messaging services I have used. Notifications were incredibly inconsistent.
