Overall Satisfaction with Slack
I love Slack! We have several different channels that allow us to keep different types of conversations related to customers, internal processes, tech support, etc separate. This is also a quick and easy communication tool that even my CEO if needed could direct message me asking for my assistance with a customer or question on a process for our team. Largely though it is also super helpful to somewhat "document" questions and answers that we can always search for in the future if needed.
- The Remind Feature is amazing! Allowing me to type down a "To-Do" list and ask Slack to remind me about it later.
- Allowing different channels is so important - It helps us keep conversations separate and focused.
- Huddles - Basically phone calls are very handy when you quickly need to talk to someone rather than message them. It is also helpful to be able to show your screen quickly rather than hop into an online conference room.
- I wish there was a "Night Mode" that would help slowly turn down the brightness or contrast in the program to help your eyes not feel so strained as the day gets into the dark hours or even in the morning.
- I wish that channels didn't have to be in alphabetical order and would allow me to change the "list" to what I needed at the top.
- Fast easy communication that allows you to Ping a co-worker.
- Quick easy huddles for quick meetings.
- Great place to bring together our CSR and Tech team for when we need each other's help.
- Being able to quickly search for and review past conversations is super helpful.
- Very simple and straight forward system that allows for clear communication.
- Channels = Allows to team to join into a GC of sorts to talk about priorities and questions.
I think Discord is a better product in general - it allows for additionally functionally with bots BUT it does not have the integration with outside systems like google that Slack has. Slack also has a better search system where I think it just indexes previous conversations better. I think that the huddle feature in slack is better than Discord for quick meetings and screen sharing. To me, it's more about what your goal is between the two systems.
