Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop

We use Splashtop to remotely provide services to our clients. Usually troubleshooting software issues, sometimes hardware. We troubleshoot using cell phones or computers and work remotely on Windows. Our clients range in age from teens to over 90, but most are between 50-80 years old. It saves both time and money for our clients to receive expert help remotely. Common issues include driver problems, printing issues, lessons, audio issues, etc.
  • At 60 dollars a year it's easily affordable.
  • Very easy to install and use.
  • Fast reliable service and frequent updates (its continually developed).
  • They listen to feedback! I personally provided multiple ideas that were implemented into the software in good time!
  • Cross platform.
  • Multiple logins allowed.
  • Multiple remote sessions allowed.
  • I currently have no requests for improvement.
  • As a computer technician, quality remote software is a must. Splashtop is nearly limitless for a low fee of $60 per year.
  • Since I can open concurrent sessions, I sometimes work on 3 or 4 computers remotely at the same time.
  • Since I can have the account open on more than one device at a time, my employee can be working remotely on a client's computer from one device, while I'm working from another device on other clients' computers.
  • Splashtop times each session, so billing our clients is extremely easy.
Terribly easy. They're very available, and attentive, not just to issues, but also to suggestions for feature improvements. It's been a pleasure working with Splashtop's staff every time I've contacted them.
They have multiple options available. Auto launch for complete unattended access, sound settings for the privacy of the user, options to require Windows Login or a special security code that the user can define. You can set a user's computer to always ask for permission before allowing a remote session even when there is a password. There are options to lock the computer at the end of a session, black the screen while in session, and lock the keyboard and mouse while in session. It's very versatile.
It takes about 2 minutes to install the Splashtop streamer on a machine. Since the installation is specific to an account using a distribution package with pre-set settings that I set, there's no further setup other than installing the package. Very easy for the end user to install.
Yes - When LogMeIn jacked their prices from free to 300 USD per year I paid. When the price when up the following year, with no communication on behalf of LogMeIn, to 800 USD per year, I canceled the payment and moved over to Splashtop. I asked them if their pricing would change in the way that LogMeIn changed. Their answer was priceless: "Don't worry. We won't pull a LogMeIn on you!" True to their word, I've been paying them 60 USD per year for many years now.

LibreOffice, Foxit PDF Editor (FoxitPhantom)
Very well suited for all environments. Less suitable if different companies need to use it to administrate the same computer.

Using Splashtop

2 - Owner and Employee who is a computer technician that we trained.
2 - Experienced computer technicians that use Splashtop to offer remote assistance to our clients. Anyone can use Splashtop - it's exceedingly easy to use.
  • To save our clients money by paying us by the minute.
  • Remote repair of small issues like a driver malfunction, or explaining to the client how to perform a task without them leaving their home.
  • Teaching a client how to do various things.
  • We recently started testing SOS which is an add-on to Splashtop. It allows us to see smartphone screens as well as computers that have not installed our distribution package.
I've been renewing my use of Splashtop for many years now and plan to continue doing so in the future.

Evaluating Splashtop and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Prior Experience with the Product
When I was previously using LogMeIn, they changed their pricing structure twice in 2 years. First, from free to 300 USD per year. Then to 800 USD per year for the number of workstations I was remotely attending. We currently have nearly 1000 computers that we work on remotely. TeamViewer costs so much per year that I can pay Splashtop for 25 years and still be on top. At 60 USD per year, it's hands down the best for value, and overall, I prefer it to the other remote apps.
Not at all - I've got the best in the business already!
