New and Very Satisfied Splashtop User.
Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
We are a campus retail management company who, do to the varying technological infrastructures on the campuses we serve, does not use an enterprise level POS system. As a result, we needed to seek a remote desktop software company who would allow the different people in our home office to access and run sales/inventory reports in our store locations.
Pros
- Easy to install and set up. I found it very intuitive, and I am not an "IT Person".
- Flexibility to access using the desktop application, or from the web-based platform, while on the road.
- Multiple plan options are available to suit a variety of needs. We were able to choose one that allows multiple users in our office to access a terminal remotely simultaneously, which is helpful.
- Great customer service. Our Ales representative, Anne, was invaluable and accommodating with the numerous questions I had when selecting Splashtop and then finding the appropriate plan.
Cons
- Right now, we can have up to two users (based on our selected plan) access a terminal remotely. It would be great if this could be increased to aid collaboration among employees accessing the terminal from different locations.
- Since we cannot utilize an enterprise-level POS system, Splashtop bridges the data gap between our store locations and our headquarters. This is what enables us to function. Without remote terminal access, our business would be unable to operate. Period. I can't overstate this.
Because we access store terminals in private institutions, and those store terminals have access to student data, each of our contract locations has a cybersecurity office that has to vet all of our connections. Currently, we operate on eight different campuses, and all of their security and IT departments have vetted and approved Splashtop for us to use for remote access to the terminals located on their campuses. If the Splashtop Security feature were not up to par, we would not be able to use it.
Onboarding was super easy. Our sales rep, Anne, was very helpful and patient. All of my questions were answered, and a trial login was provided. After a co-worker and I tried it out, we found it incredible intuitive to use and we adopted the platform almost immediately. The transition from the free trial version to our actual subscription service was seamless. I had all of our home office staff set up with user IDs and specific permissions tailored to their roles. I was also able to set up computer groups and assign access to them accordingly. We had the streamer app installed on all the terminals we needed to access, and everythig was functioning within a just a couple hours. And most of that time was spent coordinating with our on-site staff to access the terminals and download the app.
Yes - We replaced AnyDesk with Splashtop. For our needs, we found that Splashtop's variety of plans gave us better options to suit our requirements. I also like the functionality of the Splashtop Desktop Application. Finally, Splashtop's user accounts are easier to manage than they were for us with AnyDesk.
