Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
Splashtop is used by our IT dept only. We are able to solve many problems with Splashtop without having to walk to every office or classroom. Remote support makes you much more efficient because you don't waste time moving from place to place. We often have peak periods such as 12:00 when it seems everyone is having an event at the same time. I can support multiple areas without having to involve so many of my coworkers. The really powerful thing about this is that I can provide support even when out of the office. We have classes that happen after normal business hours and with Splashtop we don't always have to hire extra help. My role is audiovisual support and I can remote in to a PC to start video conference meetings as well as check that the audio and camera settings are correct. Once a room has joined a meeting, I can sometimes also jump on the meeting on my own computer and communicate with folks in the room. The file transfer feature is extremely helpful for getting content onto a classroom or meeting room computer without having to physically go there with a USB stick.
Pros
- Easy to integrate into your organization
- Uses robust security features such as 2 step verification
- Makes your department more efficient
Cons
- Doesn't always connect on the first try
- Been getting errors lately that say "try again later"
- Sometimes seems to run slow
- I believe we can provide more efficient support for an increasing number of locations and customers.
- We don't have to hire more people because we are more efficient.
- We can handle multiple tickets concurrently.
Splashtop appears to be very secure. It utilizes two step verification and works with apps I already use such as Microsoft Authenticator. From a user perspective, it is easy to authenticate
I received a message from my system admin with some basic instructions. Once I was onboarded online I was also able to install the desktop version. Installing the streamer app on various classroom computers required a process from my system admin in order for these machines to show up in a certain group.
Yes - We were using Bomgar. Splashtop at the time was less expensive. The interface seems much simpler to use. To my knowledge Bomgar did not have file transfer or multi monitor support.
