Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop Enterprise
I began using this as a tool to work through the COVID pandemic, but it’s evolved into a solution for me working from home 2 days per week. I can edit from home if I need to, though I don’t very often. However, it’s a perfect solution for me to encode and upload programming to television networks.
Pros
- Great for accessing remote computers
- Has limited functionality for transferring files between remote systems
- I can actually HEAR the sound on my work computer from home.
Cons
- The lag leaves something to be desired. Both computers have VERY fast internet connections
- File transfer takes WAY longer than it should given internet speeds
- The mobile app is terrible for trying to select multiple items in a folder and/moving them. It rarely works like it should.
- I don’t have to sit and stare at my computer for hours at a time.
- I can check in on my work computer’s status.
- I’ve saved on gas money as my office is 50 miles from home.
All are good. I don’t know too much about in-depth encryption and security, but for my purposes, I haven’t had any issues.
I was able to get going quickly. These days, I’ve figured out to work around the bugs, but I’m also not editing from home as much now that we’re back in the office and out of quarantine.
Yes - It was some VPN software that allowed me to access my work computer, but I couldn’t hear anything. I also tried Team Viewer but had the same issue.
