Overall Satisfaction with Sprout Social

In my consulting business, I recommended and implement social tools for small businesses and non-profit organizations. The strength of this product is in its ease of set up and reporting. We like it because it saves time and increases efficiency. The reporting is simple yet powerful.

  • Easy to set up and report on social metrics.
  • Google analytic integration.
  • Training on the product to build understanding, depth and breath of social reports and coverage.
  • Increase application integration with the ability to publish and monitor beyond its current capacity, i.e., LinkedIn business pages, business blog, and other social sites.
  • Limited reports and support.
  • Based on the monthly fee and the traction received from using the tool, did not see a direct return on investment.

Our monthly subscription services include: social profile and business page management, social post and content generation and scheduling, monthly offers and promotions using email marketing and Facebook campaigns, event marketing, contact management, list building and segmentation, client feedback and surveys. Our professional services include social strategy, set-up and social media policy, training, implementation and management.


Doreen is the principal consultant who works with other small business owners, professionals, non-profits decision-makers on their social strategy, engagement marketing opportunities and challenges.

As easy as it is to set up, using content creation and scheduling was a bit more difficult to figure out. Channel coverage is limited to Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and Google + user permissions are a bit cumbersome it has a bit of a learning curve. The more advanced features response routing and approval are embedded in the application and difficult to find and use.
Sprout Social is one of many social engagement and management tools to choose from with three levels of resources and support. One of their competitors with similar choices is Hootsuite Free, Hootsuite Pro and Hootsuite Enterprise which has a more comprehensive reach across more social channels for publishing, listening and engaging. It is for organizations which are seeking a broader social reach. In my business I have recommended both Sprout Social and Hootsuite based on the specific needs of my clients.
Sprout Social is an ideal solution for professionals, small and midsize organizations who understand the social landscape and the value measuring the effectiveness of social campaigns. Organizations that are looking to monitor, measure and engage their audience on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ will find Sprout Social easy to set up and use.
Sprout Social is a solid tool for small and midsize organizations which value social interaction with their audience and wish to measure the effectiveness of engagement on Facebook, Twitter , Google+ and Linked In. Businesses with limited resources will find it a great way to organize social profiles and networks, manage and interact. However with their lack of application integration for example with LinkedIn business pages and groups along with other social applications, like Foursquare, Instagram, Pinterest, it falls a bit short.

Social media is not for the faint at heart. Skills and expertise to support social engagement tools such as Sprout Social include: no fear of technology, a solid understanding of the social web, proficient in social channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and YouTube, ability to set up accounts, connect channels, generate and schedule content, manage and maintain reports. Support also includes understanding the purpose and mission of using Sprout Social to make sure it is implemented appropriately and monitoring specific social ans business goals.
