Overall Satisfaction with ViewPoint ProContractor

The product was used across the organization in operations, however, we have transitioned to another product that was a bit more user-friendly. ProContractor was a great software because it required no energy to integrate with our Viewpoint accounting system, however, just like Vista, it was still glaringly obvious to most users that it was developed specifically with accounting in mind. While this is important, it was more important for us to have software that was project management based that could integrate with accounting rather than use something that felt "accounting-ish" in nature.
  • Accounting.
  • Budgeting.
  • More of a project management "vibe".
  • Less spreadsheet and complex processes to do things.
  • Negative - We implemented and then implemented another better solution.
Procore beats Viewpoint hands down but can integrate well with Viewpoint Vista accounting software. I think that if the Viewpoint software was more flexible if they were more interested in patches, updates, and hearing customer feedback in the way the Procore does, that they would actually have the opportunity to corner the market.
As I have mentioned previously in this review, this is a decent product, but not the top in the industry, which I would deem to be Procore. Viewpoint is attempting to but has not successfully implemented the best practice of taking and learning from customer feedback, I believe this product is their initial attempt at this, but still doesn't quite hit the mark. They need to be more agile and flexible to customer needs as an organization.

Do you think Viewpoint ProContractor delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Viewpoint ProContractor's feature set?

No

Did Viewpoint ProContractor live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Viewpoint ProContractor go as expected?

No

Would you buy Viewpoint ProContractor again?

No

I think it might work for smaller contractors that have less stringent management requirements, policies, and procedures. To get buy-in from project managers to use, it would need to be a little bit more user-friendly, but if your biggest concern was project accounting, this is a great tool. Smaller projects often have lower levels of RFI and submittal requirements, fewer subcontractors and commitments, etc. meaning that where this software is weaker, they will have less use for it anyway.
