WG AuthPoint - How good is It?
Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
[WatchGuard] Authpoint is a great tool to use for MFA - especially for remote users logging into their corporate networks remotely using a SSLVPN. The authenticator allows a secure code to be added at the end of the password for an extra layer of protection. The application is friendly for web portals and other 3rd party programs as well.
Pros
- Ease of Deployment
- End User Funtionality
- Push Notifications
- Annual / 3-year Licensing Purchases or Monthly Service Options
Cons
- 3rd Party Partnerships
- Fits our model quite well - monthly services offering
- Allows an annual purchase if the client does not want a recurring subscription.
Duo seems to be more well rounded with supporting more 3rd party applications/website MFA. It also has a very powerful administrator portal. [WatchGuard] AuthPoint does a great job and can compete decently, but fits the WatchGuard family of products and services better and is a little behind DUO as a broad solution.
The ability to manage everything through a cloud portal has been very helpful. This is different than other WatchGuard offerings (System Manager for Firewall Appliances), but they are continuing to move this direction. Being able to simply deploy the software for end users has been very nice.
Activation of the AuthPoint app is very easy which makes deployment less painful for the end user and allows us to deploy in a more efficient manner which keeps installation / deployment time and costs down which is great for the client. Because it is so easy to deploy and use, end users resist to using it less.
This is something we have not deployed to the best of my knowledge.
