Overall Satisfaction with Webex Meetings

As someone who utilized multiple web apps during my time overseeing learning and development for a school district, I how to evaluate multiple video call apps for teaching and learning in a virtual setting. One of which was Webex Meetings. This became especially important post COVID when hybrid and virtual learning environments became the norm. We needed something to host Meetings, allow for collaboration, keep information and student data secure, and integrate well with other tools.

Pros

  • Accessibility features
  • LMS integration
  • Recording Meetings

Cons

  • Data and security
  • Updated and more modern interface
  • Mobile experience
  • Reduced travel costs
  • Easier and controlled parent/teacher meetings
  • Accessibility for struggling learners
  • Cisco Meraki MX
  • Cisco Secure Endpoint
How and when students and staff would take part in virtual events vs in-person. How virtual lessons would be recorded and utilized at a later date for those who miss session. How we would tackle some students being in class and some working from home. How we would leverage asynchronous learning as the model for our education post COVID.
It is more than just delivering hybrid learning environments and more about shifting the culture of learning. More collaboration, more discussion, offering staff best practices and trying to maintain a new way of delivering physical activities in a virtual/hybrid environment. It also offers more of a personalized learning experience. Le a Emerson can connect with experts in fields more often and easier, and teachers can collaborate more often without a need to be next to each other.
More flexibility. More personalized experiences. More work life balance. More efficient administrative operations, meetings, and agendas as well as less tescher burnout. More transparent communication and more of a lens into what is happening inside the classroom for parents. More streamlined use of digital tools and apps as well as a more nuanced and specific take on what tools to use and when and why.
Overall, Webex does a pretty good job. Google Meet ultimately ranks high because of how most schools utilize Google Apps to drive most of the digital learning environment and how teams integrates with a free LMS like Google Classroom. However, Zoom offers a lot of features and a more professional platform that Google Meet. Overall, Webex has a more corporate platform layout and feel, offering a lot of control, scalability, and security features which have gained over time. Cost-wise Webex is more than both other platforms which is often a drawback for schools.

Webex does allow for some efficient meetings with staff and students across multiple school buildings or for those working remotel. It also helps save travel time and increasing accessibility to those in need. It would also make sense for use with parents and community members who may not have access to the same tools or platforms students have within schools. Webex is more recognized than some other apps.
